For Individuals

Selling dentures, gold teeth or a few old crowns

You do not need to be a dental practice. We regularly buy from individuals who have inherited a relative's dentures, kept a crown after an extraction, or found old dental work while clearing a house. There is no minimum quantity, and having it assessed costs nothing.

Are used dentures actually worth anything?

Sometimes — and the value is in the metal, not the teeth. The white teeth themselves are acrylic or porcelain and have no recoverable value. What matters is what sits underneath:

• ·Gold teeth and gold crowns — Almost always worth refining, whether loose or still attached.
• ·Partial denture frameworks — Older partials often used a gold alloy framework and clasps. Newer ones are usually cobalt-chrome, which has no precious metal value.
• ·Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns — The porcelain hides a metal substructure that frequently contains gold, platinum or palladium — particularly before the mid-2000s.
• ·Full acrylic dentures — Typically no precious metal at all, unless a gold tooth is set into them.

You cannot reliably tell by looking, and a magnet is not a safe test. Send it in or bring it by and we will weigh and assay it properly, then tell you what it is worth. If the answer is nothing, we will tell you that too, at no charge.

How to send it to us

Request a free Star Jar mail-in kit and we will cover insured FedEx shipping both ways, or visit our Boca Raton refinery and be paid the same day. Do not clean, melt or attempt to remove metal from anything first — it usually reduces what you receive.
